An active multi-instrumentalist, composer, and production musician for numerous professional ensembles and recording studios, Evan has performed in concert halls and venues throughout the United States and in France - including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Verizon Hall. He has worked on releases for Limekiln Records, Etherean Music (Dik Darnell), Red Cactus Films, Victory Records, Ferret Records, Blood and Ink Records, and KIDS The Label (United Kingdom), as well as numerous others. Evan's work has also been used on major television series, including ABC's Make It Or Break It and The CW's Gossip Girl.
In addition to freelance session recording and performing, Evan composes and scores original production music for film, television, and commercial advertising. All work is composed, performed, and recorded by Evan in his fully functional recording studio - everything is specifically tailored to meet and exceed the needs of his clients. In his studio, he uses Apple operating systems, Logic Studio (ProTools and Cubase are sometimes used), and a host of instruments, microphones, and various electronic music tools.
Evan graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, Virginia) with honors and earned a dual major BA in music and philosophy. He also pursued formal studies as a merit scholarship student at The Mannes College of Music and New York University's String Quartet Program, both in New York City. His primary cello teachers have included Neal Cary, Marcy Rosen, Marion Feldman, and Leslie Frittelli, and he has performed in master classes for the Brentano, Orion, and Miami string quartets. Evan has also shared his passion for music as an educator in public schools, private practice, and in music workshops for special needs youth.
Evan's plays a cello made by Larry Wilke in 2003, which was based on Janos Starker's legendary Matteo Goffriller cello. He plays guitars by Terry McInturff, Martin, Takamine, and Fender. His most recent acquisition is a 1904 upright grand piano from Ludwig of New York - an old soul with plenty of character to go around, he hopes to someday have it fully restored.
